花椒直播 faculty, administrators, and students celebrated the start of the 2024-2025 academic year during a matriculation ceremony that welcomed a larger new student class, with over ten percent growth in new student enrollment and a record percentage of international students.聽

In addition to President Ron Cole, speakers included First Year Class Dean Aacha Brown-Gregg, Allegheny Student Government President Ella DeRose 鈥27, Honor Committee Chair NealeyClare Wheat 鈥25, Professor Betsy Getschman and Professor James Niblock, who, along with members of the Allegheny Choir led the singing of the school鈥檚 alma mater.聽

First Year Student Dean Aacha Brown-Gregg told students, 鈥淓mbrace the challenges, take advantage of opportunities, and don鈥檛 hesitate to reach out if you need guidance or just someone to talk to. Your journey is uniquely yours, and I鈥檓 excited to be part of it. Welcome to this incredible adventure, and let鈥檚 make the most of it together!鈥

The ceremony culminated a busy week preparing students for the new academic year. Faculty, staff, and student leaders executed a robust orientation dubbed the Weekend of Welcome (WOW), helping new students become integrated and feel supported right from the start.聽

The college enrolled 352 new students, including 329 first-year and 23 transfer students. Vice President for Enrollment Management, Jennifer Winge, said, 鈥淔rom Ghana to Georgia, New York to Nepal, our new class brings varied life experiences and global perspectives that will enrich our campus community.鈥澛犅

Key highlights of the Class of 2028 include:

  • Students from 34 States and 24 Countries聽
  • 7% are International Students
  • 26% are U.S. Students of Color
  • Top States: PA, OH, NY, MD and TX
  • Top Countries: Nepal, Ghana, Germany, Vietnam and Brazil
  • 25% First-Generation聽
  • Nearly 50% graduated in the top 25% of their high school class聽

鈥淭he first week of the new school year is always brimming with energy. Between new programs and a range of initiatives to benefit student learning and outcomes, I am truly excited for this year,鈥 said President Cole.聽

Classes began on August 27, 2024.聽
